Eminem dethrones Taylor Swift on Billboard 200 with The Death of Slim Shady

It is his 11th No. 1 album

Eminem has ended Taylor Swift’s 12-week run at number one on the Billboard 200 chart as his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady takes the top spot.

Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, released on April 19 was replaced by Eminem’s 12th studio album which dropped on July 12.

The news was confirmed by Billboard as they released their July 27 listing.

In its 13th week, The Tortured Poets Department sold 82,000 unites leaving it in fourth on the charts behind Eminem’s album which shifted 281,000 units in its debut week.

According to Luminate, it scores the largest week for any rap album in 2024.

Zach Bryan took the second spot with K-pop group Enhypen in third.

The Death of Slim Shady is the 11th Eminem album to top the chart and he is tied with the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand for the fifth-most No.1 album rankings of all time.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has had 14 of her albums reach the top spot.

Eminem has also reached number one on the UK album chart as well.

The Tortured Poets Department has prevented artists such as Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, Gracie Abrams and Charli XCX from reaching No. 1.

It is by far the most successful album of 2024 having sold 4.44 million units.

She released a dozen version of the double album with each version featuring different bonus tracks such as live versions of songs such as loml, The Alchemy and My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys.

Meanwhile, Eminem’s latest album is only available as a digital download, with both clean and explicit editions plus three further versions available exclusively via Eminem’s webstore.

The album will get two further releases on September 13 and October 25 when the CD and Vinyl versions become available.
