It is the first time Eminem has allowed his music to be used in a political campaign advert
Eminem has endorsed Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden, sharing a campaign advert that uses his song ‘Lose Yourself’.
Biden shared the commercial on Twitter, which features the Oscar-winning song over footage of Americans wearing masks and going out to vote.
“We have one shot. One opportunity. One moment,” tweeted Biden, echoing the lyrics of ‘Lose Yourself’.

It is the first time Eminem has licenced his music for use by a political candidate.
It is definitely not the first time that Marshall Mathers has spoken out against a serving President though. In the original video for his 2004 single ‘Mosh’, he was seen leading a massive crowd of hooded followers to vote against George W Bush (a second version, released after Bush’s re-election, changed it to show the crowd crashing the State Of the Union address).
At the 2017 BET Awards, he performed an acapella freestyle that ripped into Donald Trump, saying he didn’t want anyone who supported Trump to be a fan of his music.
“Any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his / I’m drawing in the sand a line,” he rapped. “You’re either for or against / And if you can’t decide who you like more in your split / Or who you should stand beside / I’ll do it for you with this / Fuck you.”
‘Lose Yourself’ originally appeared on the soundtrack to Eminem’s 2002 movie 8 Mile. It went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Song (the first hip-hop track to do so), as Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.
