The Oasis frontman is worth a Glastonbury gamble according to the bookies
As of this morning, Liam Gallagher’s name has been thrown into the ring to headline Glastonbury festival next year.
According to Betway, the Mancunian rocker now leads the race at 7/4 to secure a solo headline slot on the famed Pyramid Stage, having been an outside bet for the last month at 8/1, behind the likes of Arctic Monkeys and ABBA.
But while Arctic Monkeys have slipped to second they’re still well-fancied to headline at 2/1, while the third and final slot looks very much undecided.
Kendrick Lamar and Stomzy are both in the race at 7/1 to headline on either the Friday, Saturday or Sunday, right behind ABBA who are 6/1.
Other names listed as possible favourites include Elton John, Calvin Harris, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Betting on who’ll headline Glastonbury tends to go quiet for a bit and then all of a sudden we notice a string of bets for a certain artist.
“Liam Gallagher is now the act that everyone wants to back and he heads the betting to secure a headline slot on the Pyramid Stage at just 7/4.
“Gallagher and 2/1 shots Arctic Monkeys are the two that are clear in the betting at this moment in time, with ABBA third at 6/1 to add a slightly lighter tone to the three main days.”
The full list of Glastonbury headliner favourites is as follows:
Liam Gallagher (solo) 7/4
Arctic Monkeys 2/1
ABBA 6/1
Kendrick Lamar 7/1
Stormzy 7/1
Elton John 8/1
Calvin Harris 9/1
Fleetwood Mac 10/1
Led Zeppelin 10/1
Last month in an interview with football presenter Alan Brazil, Liam’s brother Noel said that he’d rather get Oasis back together than have Jeremy Corbyn become Prime Minister, after previously calling the Labour leader a “Communist.”
Any chance this could happen before Glastonbury next year and have that Oasis reunion we’ve all wanted on the world’s biggest stage? Here’s hoping.
