Not what we thought it meant then…
We all know that the late noughties-early 2010s delivered some true bangers when it came to music.
We were all young and naive once and some TikTok users are proving that by debunking lyrics which we often thought were innocent only for them to not be.
Songs such as 50 cent’s 2005 hit ‘Candy Shop’ were one of them which, unsurprisingly, isn’t about going to a confectionary store. We’ll leave you to figure it out.
The latest song to be placed under the microscope is Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’.
TikTok user Debi – who goes by the username @dibdabx – analysed the song and revealed the true meaning behind it.
Captioned: “Listening to ‘Whistle’ by Flo Rida now I’m not a child,” Debi was left stunned when she realised the actual meaning behind the lyrics.
It says: “Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby, let me know. Girl I’m gonna show you how to do it, and we start real slow.
“You just put your lips together and you come real close. Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby. Here we go.”
I think you can tell where this is going…
Flo Rida himself previously suggested that the song was “definitely for referees”.
He told MTV news: “Well, put your own swing on it, but for the most part I keep it clean, but if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well.”
We all know Flo.
