“Forever a superhero in our hearts”
Rapper Stormzy has dedicated his new video to the late Chadwick Boseman.
The animated video for his new single – fittingly called ‘Superheroes’ – ends with a tribute to Boseman, calling him “Forever a superhero in our hearts”.
The video, directed by Taz Tron Delix, also features nods to prominent Black Britons including author Malorie Blackman, fellow rapper Little Simz, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
It also references the Black Lives Matter protests that have been happening around the world this year.
Stormzy debuted the video by showing it in schools in London, Glasgow, Dublin and Manchester on Wednesday.

“We’re all superheroes,” Stormzy told young people in his introduction. “As much as we come from where we come from, we might be disadvantaged, we might have so many obstacles in front of us, you are a superhero in your own right, and don’t ever forget that.”
“Those little skills that we have, those big skills that we have, those talents, those things that often go ignored, that makes you a superhero…
“I wanted to make this video to basically inspire you guys, to let you know that the sky is the limit, to let you know that all those things inside of you make you incredible.”
‘Superheroes’ comes from Storzmzy’s 2019 album Heavy Is The Head.
Chadwick Boseman died on August 29th, aged just 43.
The actor had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016, but continued to make movies, filming between surgeries and chemotherapies. He kept his diagnosis private until his death.
Boseman’s most famous role was, of course, Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first played the character in Captain America Civil War, and reprised the role for his solo film, along with Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.
He also played several notable real-life historic figures on screen, including Jackie Robinson and James Brown
