The Swedish EDM giants are back

After months of speculation, Swedish House Mafia have today announced that they will headline Creamfields 2019.

The trio (made up of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso) will close the legendary four-day festival on Sunday Bank Holiday weekend (25th August 2019).

Following a global teaser campaign that saw Billboard signs showing three dots, which referred to announcements on Swedish House Mafia’s social media accounts, popping up around the UK, the rumours have been swirling in the EDM community for some time.

After announcing their reunion last month which resulted in three sell-out stadium shows in their hometown of Stockholm, followed by a show in Mexico City, it’s now time for the UK fans to get some love from the EDM supergroup.

Commenting on their return, the trio said:

“The UK truly is our second home…whether it be at our very first Creamfields or our last Milton Keynes Bowl show, we want to bring it back to the festival. We’ve missed you guys and we can’t wait for festival season! See you at Creamfields!”

Throughout their careers, Swedish House Mafia as a trio have had a long-standing relationship with Cream, performing together at their club Nation in the early 2000s before making their Creamfields debut under their ‘new’ Swedish House Mafia moniker in 2007. This will be the first time the group have performed together in the UK in seven years.

It was in 2012 that Swedish House Mafia, who at the time were one of the biggest electronic touring acts on the circuit, announced that they would be disbanding despite them being at their peak. On their final farewell tour, they performed across the globe, immediately becoming the world’s fastest and best selling electronic artists of all-time.

Paying their respect to their hometown, selling out three shows at Friends Arena Stockholm and playing to 133,000 fans, making it the first and last performances in their home country, they closed out their UK account with a sold out farewell show at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

Tickets go on general sale 10am (GMT) Friday 30th November.
