The 15-year-old alleged victim of former Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson shared details of their relationship over Snapchat, a court has heard.
At least one message sent by the girl to her friends was read out before Bradford Crown Court, where Johnson’s case is being heard.
Johnson has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming, but denies two further counts.
Under cross-examination via video link, she told Johnson’s defence barrister: “I was trying to big myself up as any 15-year-old girl would.”
However, having given evidence saying she initially withheld more serious allegations, the girl said she was ‘no longer looking to protect’ the 28-year-old footballer.
PA reports that the girl says she is no longer trying to protect AJ "because he did nothing to protect me and he made me out to be a liar"
