Some way to come into the world. Thankfully, the baby and her mother are in good condition
Amidst the chaos of the Afghan evacuation following the Taliban takeover, there are so many stories coming out of the country – many bad but not all of them.
While it is by no means the way anyone would wish to give birth, a pregnant Afghan woman was on board a US military flight when she brought her baby girl into the world. Although it is yet another chapter in the madness coming out of the country, it makes for stark contrast compared to the seven people announced dead at Kabul airport earlier today.
Air Mobility Command (AMC) shared images from the moment when the Air Force C-17 Globemaster touched down in Germany and soldiers helped her off the plane.
During a flight from an Intermediate Staging Base in the Middle East, the mother went into labor and began having complications. The aircraft commander decided to descend in altitude to increase air pressure in the aircraft, which helped stabilize and save the mother’s life.

As you can see, the actions of the military personnel on board the plane were vital in ensuring the mother’s safety when she suddenly went into labour, reducing the altitude to stabilise her condition. The AMC went on to say:
“Upon landing, Airmen from the 86th MDG came aboard and delivered the child in the cargo bay of the aircraft. The baby girl and mother were transported to a nearby medical facility and are in good condition.
The baby girl and mother were subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility and are in good condition. Commenting on the post, one person wrote, “We are so blessed to have these stellar individuals protecting & serving our country”, while another added: “Fantastic work to all involved. You are showing the best part of America.”
