‘I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them, never’
Alec Baldwin has claimed that he “didn’t pull the trigger” in the tragic shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the film set of Rust back in October.
On October 21, Hutchins was fatally shot after Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun that was loaded with live ammunition. According to reports, the actor had been “practicing his cross-draw” when the incident occurred, with Baldwin believing the gun was safe to use.
In an upcoming interview with ABC, the actor has now stated that he never pulled the gun’s trigger.
In the interview, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos mentions that in the script, the trigger was never meant to be pulled, to which Baldwin replies: “The trigger wasn’t pulled, I didn’t pull the trigger.”
Stephanopoulos asks Baldwin to clarify, with the 63-year-old saying: “No, no, no, no… I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them, never.”
The clip was released as a teaser for the full interview, which is to be aired on Thursday evening in the US.

Stephanopoulos also asks Baldwin about how the gun was allowed to have live ammunition in it as opposed to the fake ‘blanks’ usually used in firearms on set.
Baldwin replied, saying: “I have no idea… someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”
He said that the incident was the worst thing to ever happen to him because “I think back and I think what could I have done.”
The full interview will be aired via ABC on December 2 and will be available to stream on Hulu.
