“All I’m saying is, the white guys scored.”
Comedian Andrew Lawrence has had almost all of his upcoming gigs cancelled and been dropped by his agent after making comments mocking England’s Black footballers following their penalty shootout defeat.
Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho were all subjected to racist abuse after missing their penalties in the shootout, sparking outrage across the footballing community and action from the Metropolitan Police.
But in the aftermath of the heartbreaking shootout loss, Lawrence tweeted: “All I’m saying is, the white guys scored.”
He then followed this up with a tweet saying: “Equality, diversity, sh*t penalties.”
And then, just when you thought he might be done with his diatribe, he wrote: “I can see that this has offended a lot of people, and I’m sorry that black guys are bad at penalties.”
He quickly reaped what he sowed though. In this case, this was huge cancellations and suddenly no longer having an agent.
Hampshire’s Hanger Farm Arts Centre wrote: “Following the racist comments made by comedian Andrew Lawrence on Twitter we made the decision to cancel his show.
“As a part of learning disability charity Minstead Trust, we work hard to promote inclusivity, provide safe spaces for everyone and have zero tolerance for racism.”

And Chesham Comedy Club replied directly to one of Lawrence’s tweets, writing: “I know you won’t particularly care, but we at Chesham comedy club will not tolerate racism in any form so please consider your booking with us cancelled.”

It now looks like every single venue on his upcoming tour has cancelled his show. You love to see it.

Surprise surprise, the so-called comedian has since deleted his account, which is funny for someone who you’d think would be able to handle a bit of criticism after having dished it out.
Throw him on the scrap heap of other irrelevant figures who think that saying racist, wildly offensive shit in a desperate battle against so-called “woke” culture is going to bring them newfound success in the culture wars.
