Anthony Johnson, best known for his roles in House Party and Friday has died aged 55.
Johnson’s nephew told TMZ that Johnson was found lifeless in a store earlier in September. He was then rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No cause of death has yet been released.
Johnson was born in Compton, California, and began his professional acting career in his early twenties. His first major role was that of E.Z.E in House Party.
Having previously played minor parts in films like Lethal Weapon 3 and Menace II Society, Johnson started to pop up more. Besides appearing in numerous rap videos, other acting credits include Moesha, Malcom & Eddie and The Players Club.
His depiction of Ezal in the 1995 comedy ‘Friday’ was his breakout role alongside Chris Tucker and Ice Cube. The duo played boys who owed money to drug dealers while Johnson played petty thief Ezal.
