The presenters thought Truss and her husband were ‘maybe minor royals’
Two Australian presenters were completely oblivious to who Liz Truss was as she rocked up to the Queen’s funeral, in footage that has left people “screaming” on social media.
The UK’s newly appointed PM and her accountant husband Hugh O’Leary arrived together at the entrance of Westminster Abbey on Monday morning.
Providing live coverage of the funeral for Australian network Nine, presenters Peter Overton and Tracy Grimshaw gave a running commentary as famous faces from all over the world turned up for the service.
But the pair suffered an awkward ordeal on air when Truss turned up.

The footage has unsurprisingly gone viral on Twitter.
“The Aussies saying Liz Truss looks local,” one Brit wrote, “I am SCREAMING”.
Some described it as an “awkward moment”. Meanwhile, others thought it was simply “incredible”.
It comes after footage also showed world leaders from across the globe rocking up to the funeral in school-trip style coaches.
Canadian Prime Minister [PM] Justin Trudeau, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and New Zealand’s PM Jacinda Ardern were amongst leaders who travelled to the Queen‘s funeral by bus on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, Truss arrived in a convoy, and US President Joe Biden travelled separately in famous presidential car ‘The Beast.
Trudeau said that “a lot of great conversations happen on the bus”, while Ardern said she didn’t think the bus travel warranted “too much fuss”.
They had the world leaders on the coach like a school trip to Blackpool

Viewers watching footage of the funeral at home rushed to Twitter to comment on the leaders and their method of travel.
“Our leaders went to the UK and are being treated the way they treat us,” one wrote, gaining tens of thousands of likes.
