He was admitted to hospital on Tuesday

The former US President Bill Clinton is currently in hospital, according to reports.

The 42nd president was taken to University of California Irvine Medical Center’s intensive care unit for a urinary tract infection (UTI) that spread to his bloodstream.

Giving a joint statement to CNN on Thursday, the medical centre’s Clinton’s personal primary physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, said: “He was admitted to the ICU for close monitoring and administered IV antibiotics and fluids. He remains at the hospital for continuous monitoring”.

They also stated that the 75-year-old asked to be taken to the ICU simply for privacy and not because his treatment required it. They went on to say that, “After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well. We hope to have him go home soon.”

As well as ruling out Covid-19, doctors were relieved to find that his admittance was nothing to do with the quadruple bypass he underwent in 2004, with had two stents inserted being needed to open up one artery back in 2010.
