Roy Biggs disappeared on February 1, 2012
A man who had been declared missing for more than a decade has been found in a freezer in a London pub after a team of builders discovered his body.
The body of Roy Biggs was found in a freezer located in a basement around 3pm on October 15, 2021, when builders were working on Simpson’s Wine Bar in Newham, east London, which has been disused for a number of years.
Although the cause of death is still unknown after the post-mortem came up inconclusive, the missing man’s body was identified using dental records and authorities have since released a picture of Biggs who was 67 when he was last seen alive.
It is believed that Briggs went missing in February 2012, and was around 70 years old when he died.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen of the London Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said “We believe that Roy’s body may have been in the freezer for a number of years”.
Local authorities are now urging anyone with information to come forward no matter how small. DCI Allen went on to say, “if you knew Roy please do get in touch with us… It doesn’t matter if it’s been a long time since you knew him, or if you only knew him briefly, any information may be of real significance to our enquiries.”
