The PM will not isolate
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not self isolate following confirmation that a staffer tested positive for Covid after Johnson’s trip to Scotland.
Downing Street insists the two did not come into close contact, but sources told The Guardian that the pair were ‘side-by-side’ on several occasions.
The source reported that the civil servant flew in the same small aircraft as the PM between Glasgow and Aberdeen.
All those who classify as close contacts to the civil servant have been told to self isolate, as the staffer himself isolates in Scotland.
Downing Street did not confirm whether the PM had been tested for Covid since the member of his staff began isolating, though he is thought to have been tested before the trip and during it.
After being approached by the Guardian, a No 10 spokesperson said: “The prime minister regularly visits communities across the UK and all aspects of visits are carried out in line with covid guidance.
“The prime minister has not come into close contact with anyone who has tested positive.”
