A young fighter stole the show at the Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius press conference by turning up as Spiderman – then questioning AJ’s manhood.
Brandon Scott, who is fighting the undercard against Louis Norman, pulled off his mask to reveal himself as the famous webslinger on Wednesday, much to the amusement of the other fighters and attendees.
“You know the shit has hit the fan when Spiderman has been sent to save the day,” Scott announced.
“I know what everyone is thinking. I’d be thinking the exact same thing. What is he doing here?”
Scott, who has won each of his five professional fights and was signed by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing earlier this year, continued: “The only thing I can put it down to is that obviously there was all that trouble with the positive test, and he’s gone who can I get that is definitely clean.
“He’s looked at his list of boxers and he’s seen my name and gone, ‘right, if there’s anyone not on something it’s that scrawny nerd.”
Helenius got the late call for the Joshua fight this weekend following Dillian Whyte’s failed drug test.
Things then took a turn.
The Welsh featherweight said he could never “turn an opportunity like this down” as Joshua is “my biggest inspiration in boxing”, before hitting him with a surprise cross.
“You know, I actually see a lot of myself in Anthony Joshua, besides the muscles, the money, the penis size… but he can’t help that. I’m just genetically gifted,” he said, while pointing in the direction of his crotch.
Scott is known for causing a scene, often appearing in fancy dress and performing somersaults in the ring.
“I’ve always loved to stand out. Since I was younger I’ve always been different. I’ve always loved to be the centre of the attention,” BBC Sport quoted him as saying in July.
Scott, from Swansea, told the outlet he was “extremely obese” when aged 12, while he was also diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome as a child.
As a result, he told the BBC, “people were chipping away” at him both inside and outside school. “I never got beaten, but verbal bullying I feel is just as bad,” he added.
“I decided to start boxing and do something about it and lose weight. I had no real intention of fighting because I remember I used to get scared to take my top off.
“Then, from when I had my first fight, it became an obsession for me.”
