The Louvre in Paris has been evacuated following a shooting incident

The Louvre in Paris has been evacuated after guards opened fire on a man.

Early reports suggest that the guard on duty at the museum opened fire on a suspected attacker who tried to enter with a suitcase.

According to the BBC French police are reporting the man carrying a machete and shouted “Allahu Akbar”.

Five shots were reportedly fired at the attacker who was trying to enter an underground shopping area outside the museum. No explosives were found on the suspect.

The museum has since been evacuated.
