Pack away the bunting and get your umbrella
After a spot of sunshine over the Platinum Jubilee weekend, the UK is bracing for continuous thunderstorms and heavy rain over the coming week.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Eastern England but Brits have been told to expect travel disruption as bad weather continues throughout the week.
“Over the next few days the weather will be unsettled, changeable and perhaps unremarkable for the most part, a bit disappointing for the second week of June,” said Met Office forecaster Steven Keates. “Showers should hit parts of England to start the week, with the worst on Wednesday, before a more dramatic end to the week as heavy gales move in.”

A “heavy band of rain” is also predicted to sweep southern England on Monday before pushing further north throughout the day.
The weather will even out slightly on Tuesday, having been described as a “wishy-washy” pattern by experts. Showers are to be expected but the amount of rain will depend on your location – so be sure to check your local weather reports.

Keates continued: “From the middle of the week a new low-pressure front will begin pushing from the south-west, bringing a mixture of rain and thunderstorms in Northern Ireland and northern England.
“Wednesday will be the wettest day of the week, but areas in Scotland and parts of southern England should remain dry.
Thunderstorms gave way to cloud and rain across much of England and Wales, whilst parts of Northern Ireland and especially Scotland enjoyed the lion's share of the sunshine

“However, Scotland’s week of charming weather will begin to fizz out, as the vigorous low pressure front moves north from Thursday, with heavy gales expected in western areas.”
