The chocolate company, now American-owned, appears to have gone too far this time.
Reports say the company ditched the delicious Cadbury’s chocolate shell in favour of a cheaper alternative exactly a year ago.
But the people of Britain know their choc and it appears the decision to toy with the recipe appears to have led to a £6million slump in sales, according to the Daily Mirror.
No wonder they’ve been ramming the Easter treat down our throats in every shop in England since Boxing Day.
But Cadbury’s, which is now owned by Kraft spin-off Mondelez, defended the recipe change and said it was not responsible a slump in sales in a cut throat Easter egg market.
“The fundamentals of Cadbury Creme Egg remain exactly the same, Cadbury’s marketing manager Claire Low told The Grocer magazine.
