Britain is in the grip of Lotto fever.
People are going nuts for it – why? Because with a ridiculous jackpot of £50.4million – it’s the biggest ever sum that’s been up for grabs in Britain.
More than 200 tickets are being sold every second for the draw tonight which could see one lucky bastard become filthy, filthy rich.
This mega draw is the result of 13 weeks of roll-overs as nobody has hit the jackpot since last November.
Players are bemoaning the fact that now the Lotto has changed from 49 balls to having to pick all six numbers from 59 balls – meaning your chance of dropping the motherlode have changed from one in 14 million to one in 45 million.
(You’re four times more likely to be hit be lightning now, apparently).
But the £50.4million jackpot must be won tonight, or it will be shared out on Saturday’s draw, according to new Lotto regulations.
Camelot said new rules would make it “some of the best odds players have ever had to win a multi-million pound life changing jackpot”.
A spokesman said: “The National Lottery is all about millionaire making and Wednesday’s jackpot has the potential to make one of the biggest in our history.”
