“Chewbacca Mum” has just earned her entire family University scholarships

Thanks to Candace Payne, we’re all realising the goodness that comes from the simple joys in life.

Candace, aka Chewbacca Mum, shot to fame last month, after millions of people worldwide enjoyed her warm-hearted laughs after donning a Star Wars mask.

Some 150 millions views later and Candace has broken the record for Facebook Live, driven James Corden to work and had a trip to Facebook HQ to meet a real life (hush now) Wookiee. Not to mention a few extra Chewbacca masks so her entire family can get in on the Wookie fun.

What’s Chewbacca Mum’s next adventure? Going to university.

The Christian higher education institute of Southeastern University in Florida has just offered Candace and her entire family full scholarships.

So now Candace, her husband and their two children can apply for University free of charge at at point if they so wish.

“Candace has inspired us and others with her joy, and we want her and her family to experience some of that same joy through this gift,” said Southeastern University President Dr. Kent Ingle when he presented Chewbacca Mum the scholarships while her family was in Florida for a family holiday.

It’s a remarkable bit of goodwill from the school, and typical of what we know of Candace to date, she has taken the gift with a beaming smile and a laugh.

“This is such an amazing gift for our family, I’m blown away,” Payne said. “I mean, my kids’ college is paid for!”

It’s amazing what’s possible through the power of positivity.
