Cristiano Ronaldo has recently been voted the world’s most charitable athlete and here’s another example of him being a lovely chap.
When the Nepal earthquake struck in spring, 13-year-old Jetin Shrestha was playing football with friends. After standing still while the tremors took hold, Jetin continued playing, oblivious that the earthquake would take the lives of nearly 10,000 people.
Hearing of Jetin’s story and his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, photographer Omar Havana and Portuguese-based journalist Magarida Mota decided to get in touch with the Real Madrid man.
Eventually they were successful when Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes passed on their message. A signed Real Madrid shirt was dispatched carrying the message “Jetin be strong, best wishes. Cristiano Ronaldo”.
A small gesture, but look at the smile it’s brought to this child’s face. A nice touch from Ronaldo, but let’s not forget the other people that went out of their way to make this happen. Perhaps they deserve even more credit.
