‘There are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason.’

Daniel Craig has said he often goes to gay bars to get away from aggressive straight men.

The actor, who recently starred in his final film playing the iconic James Bond in No Time To Die, explained that he started going to gay bars when he was younger to avoid getting into fights.

Speaking to the SiriusXM podcast ‘Lunch with Bruce,’ Craig said he’s been going to gay bars for years to avoid “the aggressive dick-swinging in hetero bars.”

The 53-year-old said: “I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember. One of the reasons, because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often.”

He explained that when he was younger getting punched on a night out was a regular occurrence and would happen “quite a lot.”

So he decided to start going to gay bars.

Craig added that people weren’t bothered by his presence at gay bars, despite the fact he was straight. He said they were a “very safe place to be” as no one asked him about his sexuality.

He was even able to sometimes meet women there as well.

“I could meet girls there, because there are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason I was there,” Craig said.
