Shamima Begum left the UK for Syria in 2015Â but has asked to return
Danny Dyer has said 19-year-old ‘ISIS bride’ Shamima Begum should be allowed to return to the UK.
Bergum left her home in Bethnal Green aged 15 and fled to Syria with two school friends, where she married a Dutch jihadist named Yago Riedijk.
She has recently given birth to a baby boy, Jarrar, in the refugee camp where she lives but last week asked to return to the UK.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Dyer argued said that “she is still a young girl” and “maybe we can learn from it.”
The actor added:Â “I feel she needs a chance, maybe to explain what was going on.
“Maybe we can understand a little bit more about how they got to her and how she felt it was the right move to jump on a plane and leave this country at 15 years of age. I don’t understand what’s gone on there.
“Who’s there to guide her, talk to her, why is she so lost within her soul?”
Stand-in Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley Madeley then said Begum was “brainwashed on the internet”, to which Dyer responded: “We’ve all got the internet Rich. Are you thinking of going to Syria?
“Actually jumping on a plane at 15 to go to Syria. I don’t understand what’s going on there,” he added.
Her family’s lawyer had clashed with Madeley earlier in the show after the lawyer compared Begum to a First World War veteran.
The row comes after home secretary Sajid Javid warned he “would not hesitate” to prevent the return of British migrants who travelled to join Islamic State.
