The US President was visiting a museum in Paris with Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron ahead of the Bastille Day celebrations on Friday.
US President Donald Trump told Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, that she was “in such good shape” and that she was “beautiful” during his visit to Paris on Thursday.
Trump made the comments to Macron during a visit to Les Invalides museum in Paris on Thursday, where the tomb of Napoleon is held.
In a live stream on Emmanuel Macron’s Facebook page, Trump can be heard telling Brigitte Macron “You’re in such good shape” and that she was “beautiful” as Trump, his wife Melania and the Macrons stood and chatted in the foyer of the museum.

At a welcome ceremony earlier in the day, meanwhile, Trump and the French First Lady shared a rather awkward moment with something of a botched handshake that ended up becoming a kiss on the cheek…

It’s not the first time Trump’s handshake attempts have gone awry, although this particular effort wasn’t quite as bizarre as his 19-second long handshake with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in February.
