Donald Trump hints he’ll run for president again in 2024

Trump is back and has no plans to turn his back on politics just yet

Donald Trump – to the surprise of absolutely *no one* – has hinted that he may opt to run for president of the United States for a second time in 2024, having finally departed the White House earlier this year.

Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden and, speaking in his first major address since leaving Washington, used his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to criticise his successor’s start to life as president.

Having dismissed speculation that he was to launch a new political party, Trump said US policy had gone from “America first to America last” in the early weeks of Biden’s tenure.

“We all knew the Biden administration was going to be bad, but none of us even imagined just how bad they would be,” Trump said at the event in Orlando.

“He talked about energy. I thought ‘this guy, actually he’s ok with energy’. He wasn’t ok with energy… he wants windmills.”

Continuing his attack, Trump hinted that he may run in 2024, again making reference to his baseless claims that he did not lose last November’s election.

“Who knows, I may even decide to beat them for a third time,” he said.

Trump repeatedly returned to the allegation that his defeat to Biden was the result of an unfair voting process – the same allegation that helped fuel the riots involving his supporters at the US Capitol at the start of January, in which five people died.

His appearance at the conference, the US’s largest meeting of conservative activists and politicians, suggests he still regards himself as a key figure within the Republican party and has no plans to spend even more time on the golf course just yet.
