It takes more than a bit of cold to get between us Brits and a pint
Drinkers across the country ventured out to their local pub as the clock struck twelve last night and pubs were finally allowed to reopen for business.
As of 12.01am on Monday, bars and pubs across the land were allowed to welcome back customers. It marks the latest step in the easing of lockdown restrictions in England, with outdoor hospitality now allowed to resume, and non-essential retail, gyms and hairdressers all allowed to reopen as well.

And despite freezing temperatures, many were queueing up outside pubs, eager to get that first drink down them and see in the week in style. Bars and pubs in London, Coventry and Newcastle were just a few examples of venues that had decided to open at the earliest possible opportunity and welcome the brave souls who had wrapped up warm for the big moment.
For some places Monday marks the first time they have been able to open since last November, because of lockdowns and tiers. But the rules this time round will differ slightly. For example customers are not required to buy a substantial meal/scotch egg in order to be served alcohol, unlike in December. There is also no return for the 10pm curfew.
However groups and booking must still be limited to six people, and customers must remain seated while eating and drinking.
Other places that can now reopen are non-essential retail shops, gyms, swimming pools and outdoor attractions. Travel has now also been permitted between England and Wales, and families are also able to go on self-catered holidays again. This means members of the same household or bubble can now book a break to a private cottage, caravan or campsite.
