Paul Elcombe picked up the injured bird then used it as a weapon
A drunk thug has been jailed after he attacked a man – with a seagull.
Paul Elcombe threw the bird at the stranger before kicking and punching him during an unprovoked attack.
The 29-year-old’s victim suffered a broken jaw, Plymouth Crown Court heard this week.
Elcombe was walking home after two days drinking and taking drugs – and picked up the injured bird from the road.
He then started showing it to customers in a shop before chucking it at his victim, who he then punched, kicked and whipped with his belt.
Elcombe was this week jailed for 16 months and two weeks, having earlier pleaded guilty to assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent on 12 May 2019.
Elcombe, of no fixed abode, also admitted failing to answer bail by not attending his trial in June last year.
The judge added an additional two weeks for that offence.
