A pipebomb was previously sent to George Soros
Functional explosive devices have been found in mail sent to the office of former President Barack Obama and the home of Bill and Hilary Clinton.
In a statement, the Secret Service said it “has intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to Secret Service protectees,” who were identified as Obama and Hilary Clinton.
One package addressed to Barack Obama was intercepted by Secret Service personnel in Washington, D.C. early on Wednesday.
Another device was discovered early Wednesday morning at the Clinton’s home in Chappaqua, New York. The device was addressed to Mrs Clinton in Westchester County and was found by a Secret Service employee who screens mail for her office, according to a statement.
Two law enforcement officials stated that investigators believe the explosives are linked to another device found on Monday at the home of liberal billionaire George Soros.
“The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the statement said.
“The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them.”
The Secret Service agency has “initiated a full scope criminal investigation that will leverage all available federal, state, and local resources to determine the source of the packages and identify those responsible.”
