Family left devastated after pet dog dies during Bonfire Night fireworks

The pet was spooked by the loud bangs and ran into the road.

A family in Wales has been left heartbroken after their beloved pet dog died during Bonfire Night fireworks.

Wales Online reports that five-year-old Cadi, a cocker/springer spaniel cross lived with Garry and Ceri Hamilton near Roath Park when she was let out into the couple’s garden to go to the toilet on the evening of November 5.

But a series of loud bangs from fireworks spooked Cadi, causing her to bolt through the garden’s wooden fence.

She was running panicked around the nearby recreation ground, before being hit by a car.

“It was all quiet when we let her out, but it suddenly got very noisy very quickly,” said Garry, 58.

“She must have freaked out and escaped somehow, but before I could go and look for her I got word that she’d been hit by a car and killed.

“Someone must have taken her to the local vet who, having found our details on Cadi’s microchip, called us with the awful news.”

In a post on Facebook, the couple’s daughter Caitlin, said that the family had “lost the most beautiful girl in the world.”

She wrote: “There’s the biggest Cadi shaped hole in our hearts and she didn’t deserve her fate, just short of her 6th birthday. She’s so loved and hope Nains remembering to feed her in paradise, we can’t imagine life without her
