We’ve all got gold lifts at home, haven’t we?
Just yesterday UKIP’s former/current/returning/interim (delete as appropriate) leader Nigel Farage claimed to be the voice of “ordinary people” when he appeared on American news channel Fox News.
He was discussing Donald Trump’s election as President, which shocked the world this week:
Brexit was about ordinary people rising up to defeat the establishment and we've now seen the same happen in the US. pic.twitter.com/ajWiRIqDzg

Farage, the biggest proponent of the UK leaving the European Union was quick to ally himself with Trump during the American Presidential campaign, and as soon as he could book a flight, was on on way over to the US to try to meet the new President-elect.
Like Farage, Trump too has painted himself as the champion of the ordinary citizen, while at the same time (somewhat confusingly) taking every opportunity to remind everyone just how incredibly rich he is.
Trump probably has little idea who Nigel Farage actually is, but nonetheless, the UKIP man got his meeting with The Donald – and where better for these two champions of the “ordinary” people to pose for a photograph op than in a lift made out of gold?
It was a great honour to spend time with @realDonaldTrump. He was relaxed and full of good ideas. I'm confident he will be a good President. pic.twitter.com/kx8cGRHYPQ

Naturally, there were some comments…

Farage: "So Donald, is there anywhere we can get a picture to show what men of the people we are?"

What did #trump and #farage discuss at their meeting?" Locker room talk?" Apparently it's what "men do" pic.twitter.com/m4BLMV1vLq

After their meeting, Farage Tweeted: “Donald Trump’s support for the US-UK relationship is very strong. This is a man with whom we can do business.”
Gold business, presumably.
