French actor Gaspard Ulliel has died following a skiing accident in the Alps at the age of just 37.
The accident took place on Tuesday (18 January) in the Savoie region. An investigation is currently underway.
The actor was hospitalised after the accident but sadly passed away on Wednesday. French media outlet France Bleu reported that he was in a “serious condition” in hospital with a skull injury.
Ulliel was known for films including Saint Laurent (2014), in which he played fashion designer Yves Saint Lauren and for playing a young Hannibal Lecter in 2007 film Hannibal Rising.

He was also known as the male face of Bleu de Chanel, and had recently finished filming on the upcoming Marvel series Moon Knight alongside Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.
He will appear posthumously in the series as Anton Mogart/Midnight Man.
The actor received praise in France for his performances in Summer Things (2002) and Strayed (2003), which both earned him nominations for the Most Promising Actor at the César Awards.
He won this award in 2004 for his performance in A Very Long Engagement, in which he starred alongside Marion Cotillard, Jodie Foster and Audrey Tautou.
13 years later he won the Best Actor César for his performance in It’s Only the End of the World.
Ulliel was in a relationship with model-singer Gaëlle Piétri. The couple had one daughter, who is turning six in February.
