He was suspected of being involved in Epstein’s global paedophile ring

French fashion agent Jean-Luc Brunel, who was accused of having links to Jeffrey Epstein, has been found dead in his prison cell.

Brunel, 76, was found hanging in his cell on Friday night, the Paris prosecutor’s office said.

He was in prison awaiting a trial on charges of rape of a minor and sexual harassment, and was suspected of being involved in the global paedophile ring organised by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein himself killed himself in prison while awaiting trial for his crimes in 2019.

Arrested in December 2020, Brunel was accused by US prosecutors of finding young girls for Epstein to groom.

His modelling agency MC2 Model Management was founded with the help of funding from Epstein.

At least a dozen people were known to have given evidence to French authorities as part of the investigation into the allegations against him.

Brunel was also one of the names mentioned by Virginia Giuffre, who alleges that the fashion agent procured women for sex with Epstein and others.

She says some of these women were minors.

According to Le Parisien, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed an investigation into Jean-Luc Brunel’s death was underway, but that there had been no missed checks on Brunel by guards on their rounds that night.

A spokesperson said that Brunel had been “determined to commit the act” and that he killed himself in between two of the rounds from guards that night.

They added they were “certain that he had been alone in the cell” at the time and that there was nothing first aid could have done to save his life.

Brunel’s legal team said he had killed himself not because of guilt but because of a “profound feeling of injustice.”
