French police hunting down the alleged mastermind of the Paris terror attacks cornered suspects in an apartment in the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Officers and French soldiers were involved in a gun battle at the scene where it is believed Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the Belgian man believed to have orchestrated the Paris plot, was holed up.
French media report three people have been killed in the raids on the flat in the St Denis area including a female suicide bomber who blew herself up.

Seven explosions are reported to have been heard during the raids and the Mirror report that two people are reported to have been arrested in the operation.

Police are now also hunting for a ninth suspect in Friday’s atrocities – reportedly the driver of a car which transported some of the attackers.
