Ritter died of a brain tumour on Monday April 6
Friday Night Dinner‘s 10th anniversary special will be dedicated to much-loved actor and star of the show Paul Ritter. The actor, who played Martin Goodman in the popular sitcom, tragically passed away from a brain tumour on Monday 6 April. He was only 54 years old.
The upcoming special celebrating the show was meant to air in the spring, and Ritter had been due to appear in it along with other actors from the programme, which ran for six series.
It has now been confirmed that the celebratory 90-minute special will still go ahead, featuring interviews with members of the cast such as Tracy-Ann Oberman and Tamsin Greig, and never-before-seen outtakes. It and will now also be in tribute to Ritter, who’s other credits include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, James Bond’s Quantum of Solace, and the critically-acclaimed mini-series Chernobyl.
The special will be entitled You Look Nice: The True Story of Friday Night Dinner.
In a statement the studio behind the sitcom, Big Talk Productions, said Ritter was “a brilliant, kind and talented man,” who will “forever be part of the Big Talk and Friday Night Dinner families.”

Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper also paid tribute to the actor, saying that Ritter was the greatest actor that he had ever worked with.
