Terrorists were foiled in their attempts to set off ‘several explosive devices’ at the stadium where Germany were due to play the Netherlands, according to the German media.
The ringleader of the operation was expected to film the detonation of devices inside the HDI Arena, while a further bomb was due to be set off in the city of Hanover
Bild claims to have access to secret documents which shed more light on the ‘concrete threat’ which saw the international friendly called off shortly before kickoff.
However it acknowledges the official statements that no explosives were found inside the stadium.

Germany had been the opponents when a bomb was detonated at the entrance of Paris’ Stade de France, leading to increased security around European matches during the week.
Early reports of bombs hidden inside an ambulance were not substantiated by authorities, however this reflects the plans detailed in the alleged security documents made public by Bild.
The threats suggested a number of individuals were behind the plot, though further information from official sources is yet to come to light.
