It’s nothing new to see teenagers opening their exam results live on television.
In recent years, this appears to be the done thing on GCSE and A-Level results day.
Usually, it turns out to be good news for those brave enough to open up their envelopes with a camera in their face but as viewers of Good Morning Britain discovered on Thursday, this isn’t always the case.
Salford City College student, Milan, appeared on the breakfast TV show, explaining to reporter Katy Rickitt that he needed three A grades to secure his place at The University of Manchester.
Unfortunately, as he opened his envelope it became clear that Milan, who had studied maths, chemistry and physics, hadn’t got the grades he required to get into Manchester.
It wasn’t a disaster by any means for him. Having got a still very impressive A and two Bs, the teenager added that he still had enough for his insurance choice at The University of Liverpool.
Viewers criticised the show for continuing to ask the clearly disappointed 18-year-old about his results.

Awks when @GMB make you open your A Level results live on TV, read them out and you don't have the results that you needed. Cruel!

It was impossible not to feel for Milan, but a tweet from Rickitt later revealed that he had still managed to get into his first choice university, despite missing out on the three As he thought he required.

Good to see a happy ending and a big well done to Milan. Better stock up on Super Noodles.
