They have all been placed on restricted duties while an investigation is carried out.
Eight police officers are being investigated over “sick” messages posted in a WhatsApp group about Katie Price’s disabled son Harvey.
The MailOnline reports that the officers are accused of posting racist and sexist jokes, mocking black suspects and bullying a female employee.
They are all based at Bexleyheath police station in south-east London.
Scotland Yard confirmed that the eight officers are all on restricted duties while the investigation into the messages is carried out.
The force, which is Britain’s largest, has recently been criticised for its probe into the disappearance of murdered sisters Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27.
The mother of the sisters said that police had made assumptions about her daughters because they were black, prompting Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick to admit there is “much more to be done” to improve trust in the force.
A source has said that the eight officers were taking into a meeting with senior command once the messages came to light in March.
The source said: “They’ve been putting sick jokes in there, pictures of black criminals, but some of the worst stuff was taking the mickey out of Harvey Price.
“There are a lot of messages about him, I’m told. These are the people who are supposed to be looking after us and are supposed to be out in these communities.”
The 19-year-old suffers from autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, which causes slow development.
A spokesman from Scotland Yard confirmed that the force’s Directorate of Professional Standards was investigating.
