Investigators find drugs in body of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins

Charlie Herbert

His cause of death remains unknown

Taylor Hawkins, the drummer from the Foo Fighters who was tragically found dead on Saturday morning, had opioids, marijuana and anti-depressants in his system before he died.

A toxicology report found traces of 10 substances in his body.

But investigators in Colombia have not said whether any of these substances were a factor in his death.

Hawkins was found dead at a hotel in Bogota, with Foo Fighters due to perform at a music festival there this weekend.

He was just 50.

Local officials were sent to his hotel after a man reported having a chest pains, the BBC reports.

The Bogota health department said efforts were made to resuscitate him, but he did not respond and was declared dead.

Foo Fighters have cancelled their performance at the festival and all their remaining South American tour dates.

On Saturday, the band released a statement in which they said they were “devastated” by his passing.

“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever,” they added.

Tributes to Hawkins have poured in from across the world of music to the drummer, and fans have been leaving flowers, candles and tributes outside the hotel were he died.

Miley Cyrus was performing at the same festival as Foo Fighters, and dedicated her performance to Hawkins.

Ozzy Osbourne labelled the drummer an “amazing musician,” while Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger said the news of his death was “incredibly sad.”
