Metropolitan Police said a man had been charged with assault by beating
A man has been charged by police after Jeremy Corbyn was egged during a visit to a north London mosque.
The Labour leader was visiting Finsbury Park mosque with Diane Abbott on Sunday.
John Murphy, a 31-year-old man from Barnet has been charged with assault by beating, Scotland Yard said.
He is expected to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on March 19.
After the visit Corbyn tweeted but did not mention the egging.

Corbyn was sitting with community leaders when he was approached from behind and hit on the head with an egg.
The leader of Labour party left the mosque at around 6.30pm, the Evening Standard reports.
