‘I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore’
John Goodman stunned the red carpet on Monday with his incredible 90kg weight loss, stating that he wants to “live life better.”
The Big Lebowski star attended the Freak Brothers premiere in LA clad in jeans, an orange jumper and a blazer.
The 69-year-old Hollywood veteran told Page Six: “In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits.
“This time, I wanted to do it slowly – move, exercise.
“I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”
The actor’s change in lifestyle also meant adopting a Mediterranean-themed diet including fish, olive oil, vegetables, nuts and fruit. Alongside this – and teachings from his personal trainer Mackie Shilstone – Goodman made it his mission to walk at least 10-12,000 steps every day.
The Flintstones actor told People magazine that: “It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next.
“I wanted to live life better.”
Goodman appeared on the red carpet alongside everyone’s favourite Pete Davidson, Step Brothers star Andrea Savage and comedian Blake Anderson.
Goodman’s weight loss is big news on Twitter, with one person writing: “John Goodman looking great after losing a heap of weight.”
Another wrote: “Wow, respect.”
A third said: “HOLY SHIT Good on ya man!”
The official plot for The Freak Brothers reads: “After smoking a magical strain of marijuana and falling asleep for 50 years, this adult animated series follows the three Freak Brothers and their sardonic cat as they adjust to life in 2020.”
The show is airing exclusively on the streaming platform Tubi.
