“Join the police corruption“
A fake website has been set up pretending to be the official one for people to join the police, with parts of it labelling the Metropolitan Police as the “biggest gang of criminals.”
Those entering the website are now met with a message that says “Join the biggest gang of legal criminals.”
It continues: “HUGE EGO? ENJOY TELLING PEOPLE WHAT TO DO? LOVE FOLLOWING ORDERS?
“WHY NOT JOIN THE CORRUPTION?
“Last year we had over 3,000 allegations of police corruption, but don’t worry – less than half are properly investigated.
“Drug crimes, bribery, theft, falsifying evidence, fraud, sexual misconduct and un-authorised disclosure of information are just a few of the bonuses that come with joining the police.”
The front page of the website has also been altered so that it now reads “Join the Police CORRUPTION.” There is also a video of police officer shouting at a young man, telling him to “sit in his car and shut up” and telling him that he will “make something up “in order to get the man locked up.
The video is captioned with the phrase: “This is the great public service you could be providing.”
Lower down the page in the ‘Who can join?’ section, there is now red writing saying “anyone who feels insignificant” and that applicants “don’t even need to know the law!”
The work seems to be that of Outlaw, who describes themselves as a music producer, activist, artist and author. If you click on any of the “see who’s recruiting now” links you are taken to Outlaw’s Instagram page. His logo also appears on the opening message that greets you on the page.
The address for this website is joiningthepolice.org.uk, whereas the actual website for the police force is joiningthepolice.co.uk.
