Bieber has got dreads and fans are not happy about it
Justin Bieber has been widely criticised by fans and accused of ‘cultural appropriation’ after he posted a picture of his dreadlocks on Instagram.
This is not the first time Bieber has sported dreadlocks. In 2016, the star was also accused of cultural appropriation as he opted for dreads.
The 27-year-old singer showed off his new hair on Instagram yesterday.
In a poolside picture with his wife, Hailey, Bieber gave fans a glimpse of his dreadlocks.

Just an hour later, a clearer image of Bieber’s hair was posted on his Instagram page.

Fans are divided by the singer’s new hairstyle, with some accusing him of cultural appropriation once again.
On Twitter, one person said: “Early humans lacked combs or styling products and roamed earth with matted hair long before this became a cultural thing! White people with dreadlocks is cultural appropriation.”
“Now Justin Bieber has dreads – isn’t that cultural appropriation?” another user tweeted.
One Twitter user posted a flashback to Bieber’s dreadlocks in 2017 and accused him of cultural appropriation.

However, one Bieber fan said that dreadlocks do not belong to one ‘particular culture’ and therefore disassociated the singer from the criticism.
They said: “Dreadlocks have been worn by nearly every culture and even go back to the Germanic tribes and the Vikings. It doesn’t belong to one particular culture so this is ridiculous.”
With over 170 million followers, Bieber is bound to face backlash for new his hairstyle.
But he certainly is not afraid of bringing back a hairstyle he was previously criticised for.
