Nike has dropped a new advert featuring quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
The two-minute long commercial will air during an opening fixture of the NFL calendar – Falcons v Eagles.
In it, Kaepernick calls Serena Williams “the greatest athlete ever,” as well as applauding Odell Beckham, LeBron James and the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team.
He says:Â “Don’t picture yourself wearing OBJ’s jersey. Picture OBJ wearing yours.
“If you have only one hand, don’t just watch football, play it at the highest level.
“Don’t become the best basketball player on the planet. Be bigger than basketball.
“And, if you’re a girl from Compton, don’t just become a tennis player. Become the greatest athlete ever. Yeah, that’s more like it.”
The partnership between Kaepernick and Nike will reportedly include a shoe and apparel line.

The American footballer tweeted: “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
Kaepernick is largely responsible for kickstarting the protests of police brutality and racial injustice in the NFL that began in August 2016 as players started taking a knee during the American national anthem.
Due to his involvement in the widespread movement, rather than any actual concerns over his talent, Kaepernick has remained a free agent since opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.
The announcement that Kaepernick would be the face of Nike’s Just Do It campaign rustled a few feathers. Many American right-wingers were so outraged that they decided to burn Nike clothing that they had already paid for.
