It really is getting to squeaky bum time for Leicester City fans.
With the number of Premier League games left creeping into single figures, cracks are appearing in the faith of Foxes fans who backed their side to go on and lift the trophy.
After huge wins against Liverpool and Man City in February, Claudio Ranieri’s men had a bit of a wobble dropping points against Arsenal and West Brom.
Their lead at the top of the league has narrowed and a few fans with big money bets are beginning to cash in their chips.
We’ve already had the student who took £1,600 early from the bookies to fund away days in Europe next season and the mystery punter who cashed out for even less after the 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
But now we’ve probably seen the biggest cash out so far – with John Pryke calling it a day after putting £20 on his side at 5000/1.Â
The lifelong Leicester fan stood to win £100,000 from his start-of-the-season long-shot punt on them to win the title.
But now the 59-year-old has walked away with a cool £29,000. Yes he might miss out on £71,000 if Leicester actually do it, but we’d be laughing all the way to the bookies to pick that wedge of cash up.
“Teams have worked out how to play against us and the smaller teams will just start parking the bus,” he said.
“I’d actually have preferred our run-in to be against the bigger teams as we know how to beat them.
“It’s been a crazy season, I’d be silly not to take my money and run.”
He added:Â “I’ve also backed Leicester to finish in the top four at 400/1, so I can enjoy the rest of season knowing I’ve got my winnings early.”
