Malala celebrated at home with her family following a small ceremony in Birmingham on Tuesday.
Malala Yousafzai has announced she has married, following a small family ceremony.
The activist, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, said her and her new husband Asser Malik got married during a small ceremony in Birmingham on Tuesday, and then celebrated at home with family.
In a post on Twitter, the activist wrote: “Today marks a precious day in my life.
“Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families.
“Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”

In 2012, Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in an assassination attempt because of the then 15-year-old’s activism in promoting education for girls.
She was eventually transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and has since called the UK home.
In 2014 she became the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner, winning the accolade for her work campaigning for girls to have a universal right to education.
Last year, she completed a philosophy, politics and economics degree at Oxford University last year.
She has also set up the Malala Fund, which aims to support the education of girls around the world.
The news of her marriage comes just months after she had said that she was not sure if she would ever marry.
In June this year, Malala told British Vogue: “I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?”
