West Midlands have been searching for the killer since the murder took place on Monday
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a mother and daughter in the early hours of Monday morning in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham.
Raneem Oudeh, 22, and her mother Khaola Saleem, 49, were fatally stabbed at around 12:30 am on the morning of the Bank Holiday Monday on Northdown Road, in Solihull.
Raneem Oudeh was on the phone to police when the attack occurred, detectives have revealed. She had made several calls to the emergency services as police were trying to find their exact location. According to reports, the situation then “escalated”, and officers were dispatched, arriving in minutes, but were unable to save the two women who died from their wounds.
Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the community for their support over the last few days, the response to our appeals has been excellent and tonight resulted in this arrest.”

Police and Crimestoppers offered £5,000 for information leading to the detention of Janbaz Tarin, who was Ms Oudeh’s ex-partner, and the murder weapon and vehicle were recovered earlier in the week and sent for forensic investigation.
A statement from West Midlands Police said: “Police searching for the suspect in the double murder in Solihull have arrested a man. Officers have been working tirelessly around the clock and have acted swiftly on any information that has come in over the last few days.”
