He could also be slapped with a fine
A man who put an e-cigarette in his baby’s mouth for online clout is now facing up to 20 years in prison and a hefty fine if he is found guilty.
The unnamed 23-year-old was arrested on August 8 after he shared the now-viral clip on social media, spurring the baby’s mother to contact the police. Officers in Johor, Malaysia, now say that the man faces a massive fine and a long time behind bars if found guilty.
According to North Johor Baru district police commander Rupiah Abd Wahid, the baby belonged to the sister of the man’s friend and they had all been at a restaurant when the incident occurred.

The video shows the man putting the vape in the seven-month-old’s mouth, simulating smoking. While he says it was broken, the clip received a fair amount of criticism online.
“All of a sudden, the man who was carrying the baby had jokingly placed the non-functioning e-cigarette into the baby’s mouth,” Wahid explained. “This was recorded by the mother’s sister who posted it on social media and it went viral.”
The mother filed a police report on August 6, and an investigation was launched shortly after.

The man could now be looking at a 20-year prison stay and an RM50,000 (£9,279) fine.
Reacting to the video on Twitter, one user wrote: “You guys don’t deserve to have kids.”
“There really should be an aptitude test to see if people are fit to be parents…” another said.
some people really don’t fit to be a parent and they definitely don’t deserve kids. I don’t care if it’s just an act but you can clearly see the baby suckled on that thing

However others are wondering why the mother allowed the man to do it at all, given that she was also at the restaurant.
As one user put it: “Apparently the baby’s mother was with them that night. Why not stop the man’s actions?”
