The former porn star donated had originally only intended to donate $1,000
Mia Khalifa has raised more than $10,000 to For The Gworls, a charity that provides vital help and support to Black trans women.
Having initially risen to fame making adult films in 2014, Khalifa now makes money on OnlyFans, along with a number of other ventures. She had initially raised $1,000 from her OnlyFans account and had intended to match that amount in her donation.
However she explained in a tweet she loves the “direct help For The Gworls gives to trans people by assisting with rent and gender affirming procedures, so wanted to do more”.
Raised a total of $1k on my OF for women’s charities and found one I wanted to donate to. I was originally going to match, but I love the direct help For The Gworls gives to trans people by assisting with rent and gender affirming procedures, and wanted to do more ♥️ @4THEGWORLS pic.twitter.com/z1yHyO3I8q

She went on to urge her 3.6 million followers to tag other organisations to keep in mind for next time, particularly “small scale and semi local ones who really need the funding”.
It’s the latest example of Khalifa using her platform and world-wide fame for good. Since quitting the porn industry in 2014, Khalifa has become an outspoken critic of the way that areas of it are run. In 2019 she revealed that she would often earn just $1,000 per scene she filmed, and only made $12,000 in total from her entire time in the industry.
Khalifa warned other young people that the world of porn can be brutal and “isn’t all sunshine and flowers”.
She has also spoken openly about challenged she has faced with online abuse, having been subjected to vile messages and death threats throughout her career.
