A mother has been left baffled after she made a horrifying discovery in her 7-year-old son’s bedroom.
“Does anybody have any idea what this could be? It’s at the end of my son’s bed on the floor,” she wrote in the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas Facebook group.
The question was accompanied by photos of a huge pile of an unidentified substance across the floor next to her son’s bed.
“Does anybody have any idea what this could be? It’s at the end of my son’s bed on the floor,” the poster added.
“Not anywhere else in his room, not in his ottoman bed base or under his bed. Just at the end in one spot (I’ve spread it out a bit to look). Any ideas, please?”
Fellow members of the group were quick to respond, and the general reaction was one of horror.
“OMG, my skin is crawling – I hope this is cereal as I’m about to freak the freak out,” one person wrote.
A second put: “Nope … new fear unlocked.”
“The horror definitely looks like it’s from something scary,” a third said.
Others came up with theories as to what the mysterious mound was made up of.
“Definitely tarantula black widow scorpion eggs. Extremely bitey, and they bide their time to attack,” one person put.
A second theory thought that the substance may have been indicative of a mice problem.
“Had this in both my kids’ bedrooms. They had them ‘Warmies’ that go in the microwave. You heat them up, and they smell like lavender.
“Anyways, it turns out I had mice. Eating all the insides of the toys I caught them on camera. I had to move out. So my advice is bin the toys and get your traps out.”
A second said: “Had something similar in our shed once. It was evidence of mice/rats getting in.”
However, in another update, the OP revealed what the culprit actually was, and it turned out to just be a burst microwavable heat pack.
“I hoovered it a couple of days ago, and it wasn’t there. I went back to hoover again, and it was,” she wrote.
“I have now found out it’s from a heat teddy that’s popped at the end of his bed.”
